October - November 2013

Dr. Marie Imbrova's visit in Kenya, October 31 - November 13, 2013


The first half of November Dr. Marie Imbrova spent in Kenya. She met with Czech expatriates and local friends, she visited her jewellery manufacturers and an expert on African trade beads Mrs. R. Mann, and she imported a part of charity aid to the Mukuru slum, where Mrs. Hana Klucarova is working. Another part of her stay she focused on studying Swahili culture on the coast.

A non-traditional lecture by Dr. Marie Imbrova, an African Studies expert and ex-diplomat,
"KAURI, CHEVRON, COINS ... WHAT'S MORE ?" on the role of currency in circulation and means of payment in the sub-Saharan Africa, Africans' access to these legal tenders and their use in the emblems of traditional power and on creation of their current exchange rates at the collectors' auctions.

The lecture will be held in the Lecture Hall of the New Building of the National Museum on October 07, 2013 from 05:30 p.m.

3:00 p.m. / Art workshop of Helena Hoskova devoted
to traditional Batik painting from Java.
4:00 p.m. / Introduction of modern Indian dance, Arabic flamenco and Egyptian folklore performed by a group Caravana.
5:00 p.m. / Concert of polyphonic compositions for one voice and its echoes of Czech-Sudanese singer Ridina Ahmed.
6:00 p.m. / Film "Drop from the Cup of Immortality" by Viliam Poltikovic about the largest spiritual festival in the world,
which takes place only once every 144 years at the confluence of the sacred rivers Ganga and Jamuna. The screening will
be followed by a discussion with the author.

During the afternoon, visitors will be able to see and purchase jewellery from the African collection of Marie Imbrova and to refresh themselves with exotic cocktails that will be prepared
by a professional barman Peter Vopalensky
from the Dortletka, the Roudnice Candy Bar.

Benefit Evening "CURRENT INSPIRATION BY AFRICA", Salon Foxy's, U pruhonu 13, Prague 7, August 30, 2013

On the occasion of the opening of Foxy's - a new beauty salon in a former brewery of Holesovice - owners will held an extraordinary benefit evening with the presentation of authentic African jewellery from the collection of Marie Imbrova, an African studies expert and with the fashion show of the fashion designer Jaroslava Prochazkova. The models will be presented by celebrities like Vilma Cibulkova, Anna Polivkova, Petra Hrebickova and others and the programme of the evening, culminating by an auction of a model and a jewel, will be moderated by Marek Vasut. Proceeds from the sales will be donated to the Tengenenge Friends Club, a Civic Association, caring for a kindergarten in Zimbabwe and to the Chocolate Children, a Public Service Company, which helps children of foreigners in our country.

"A CREATIVE WEEKEND FOR AFRICA IN THE BOTANICAL GARDEN", Botanical Garden, Nadvorni 134, Prague 7 - Troja, August 10 - 11, 2013

Dr. Marie Imbrova will spend August 10 and August 11, 2013 in the Prague Botanical Garden, where she will represent the Tengenenge Friends Club and at the same time she will discuss about the sense of the help to Zimbabwe.

Dr. Marie Imbrova's Lecture "KAURI, CHEVRON, COINS ... WHAT'S MORE ?", The New Building of the National Museum (former Federal Assembly Building), Vinohradska 52/1, Prague 1 - Vinohrady, June 03, 2013


A non-traditional lecture by Dr. Marie Imbrova, an African Studies expert and ex-diplomat, on the role of currency in circulation and means of payment in the sub-Saharan Africa, Africans' access to these legal tenders and their use in the emblems of traditional power.


The lecture is organized in cooperation of the Czech Numismatic Society and the National Museum in Prague and is indeed intended for numismatists, but this topic is more cultural and historical. The guest of Marie Imbrova will be also Mr. Vaclav Stor.

The lecture will be held in the Lecture Hall of the New Building of the National Museum on June 03, 2013 from 05:30 p.m.

The admission is free.

On June 03, 2013, Dr. Marie Imbrova will attend at the invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic and the Institute of International Relations Prague the panel discussion, held to mark the 50th anniversary of the foundation of the African Union. Dr. Marie Imbrova's Visit in Zimbabwe, April 2013


Dr. Marie Imbrova stayed in Zimbabwe from April 9 till April 22, 2013. During this year's visit in Tengenenge, she was accompanied by 4 Czech volunteers, namely Mrs. Hana Krpesova, Mr. Martin Zeleny, Mrs. Sarka Zelena and Mrs. Dana Svabova, with whom she visited also Zimbabwean Nyanga National Park. Also, her girlfriend Mrs. Marketa Motsi with her husband, musician Mannex visited Tengenenge. The photos from her stay, you can find in the

Dr. Marie Imbrova's visit in Senegal, March 2013


In the first half of March 2013, Dr. Marie Imbrova stayed ten days in Senegal. Besides visiting her Zimbabwean girlfriend, she was devoted to travelling and buying jewels for her presentations and for supplement of her historic collection. Gradually, she visited Dakar, Lompoul (a tented camp in the desert), Saint Louis and Goree. The photos from her trip, you can find in the Photo Gallery.
